Following on from my recent post about Les Trois Garcons I wanted to say how cool their restored French Chateau looks in the December issue of World of Interiors magazine. The beautiful Chateau with 7 double en suite bedrooms is available to hire for weddings & birthday parties etc. For details check out their web site at ....... http://www.loungelover.co.uk/
I"m captivated by these stunning boxing paintings by the American artist George Bellows (1882-1925 ).
The first is called... " Both members of the club " and the second is titled " stag at Sharkey's. The intensity of the sharply lit figures in the dark atmosphere of a private club. The drama of the movement emphasized by the rough brush strokes. The savage crowd baying for blood. The painting's bring to mind the work of Francis Bacon.
An article in the December issue of World of Interiors magazine about a Chateau, which is the latest venture by the guys behind Londons Les Trois Garcons. Reminded just what a cool interior Les Trois Garcons has and how much it had inspired the look of my own studio.
I'm really fascinated by these wax sculptures by Swiss contemporary artist Urs Fischer and how over the days they change as they slowly melt. The photos show the wax figure of Rudi a friend of the artist looking at a wax reproduction of "The Rape of the Sabine Women" by Giovanni Bologna.
I've recently discovered the work of Christian Tagliavini. He's an Italian/Swiss graphic designer who also takes great photographs.
For his portraits he makes elaborate historical costumes using paper and cardboard. He currently has an exhibition of his work Cut out & Keep, at the Diemar/Noble photography gallery in Wells St London W1, until 7th Jan. http://www.diemarnoblephotography.com/
